I read this a while back, and it popped into my head while I was doing my skin routine (short version: pretty bad, persistent acne and blemishes). Have you found something that works for you?

So many weird body changes come with getting older! For my part, I now find myself at this or that doctor's office on the regular, whereas I would go maybe once every decade prior to turning 50. Ugh!

Amazing post of course! Happy New Year to you a few days in advance.

Hi Greg! I think you should stop your skin routine. 😂 I think we’re all overloading on products and actions, with disastrous results. I’m obsessed with this Substack about the beauty industry and she recently wrote about this: https://jessicadefino.substack.com/p/beauty-editor-skincare-routines?utm_medium=email

For my perioral dermatitis, I’m currently using an emu oil face soap by Noble Formula (seems good so far!) and a gentle Avenue moisturizer/sunscreen and then makeup. Taking a break from retinols and oils as much as possible. I’ve been reading so much about it! The Substack article made me feel so much better though. We’re all doing too much. Like, I think about men who do nothing and have flawless skin. Maybe that’s the secret. Also genes. 😂

Happy new year to you! 🥂

Fascinating article!

I wrote "routine" for lack of a better word. I've pretty much only been applying an acid (Inkey, recommended by a friend), a moisturizer (Ceylon for men), and then sunscreen (Blue Lizard) so I don't get red when I'm out and about. And only within the last month. I use a charcoal soap to wash my face.

I also drastically changed my diet and cut out booze. Seems to have helped a ton, though it's been a long road. I won't continue to use the skin products if I don't need them.

I've looked at your list and considered the pros & cons of doing the same things before I turn 76 in a few weeks. Unfortunately, my mom is dead, I don't believe in astrology, and I don't like parties, so I decided against it.

The guy in Croatia is a jerk... your wise Aunt Kris thinks you're better off without him.

Love you

Thanks for reading and commenting, Aunt Kris! You never fail to make me laugh. I think we've got more than a few writers in the family. Happy 76th in a few weeks! Love you, too.
